The Alabama State University and the College of Business Administration (COBA) has had little exchange with Asian countries. While East Asian professors do consist a portion of the business school faculty, there was little participation in the actual study of the area. The foundation of the research Institute will provide incentives for a more active participation.

With the globalization of the corporate environment, especially with the expansion of the East Asian market, more study on the local industry, economy and corporate environment is being required. Unfortunately, the lack of related data and experts restrict the school from any significant studies to take place. The research Institute will contribute to overcoming these limitations.

Furthermore, the research Institute will provide a link with East Asia through supporting both the research on the countries and the investment of such countries in the local region.
