The Small Business
Development Center at Alabama State University provides technical and
management assistance to small businesses and prospective business
owners. As an institutional member of the Alabama Small Business
Development Consortium, the SBDC at Alabama State University is one of
twelve University-based business assistance sources located throughout
the state.
The SBDC is committed to providing quality service,
technology transfer, training and other services useful in the
businessperson’s daily decision making processes. Responsible for an
eight-county (Autauga, Bullock, Chambers, Coosa, Elmore, Lowndes,
Montgomery, and Tallapoosa counties) area in Central Alabama, the
SBDC provides on-site counseling and training workshops in smaller
towns, as well as larger urban areas. The SBDC staff and consultants are
available to provide customized training programs and speakers for
professional associations, civic organizations, and educational
facilities. Center Training Programs include:
- Small business tax workshops (State and federal
taxes)
- Pre-business workshops for veterans
- General business training workshops
- Basics of procurement
- Women in business networking
- Central Alabama Procurement Conference
